In 1949, two brothers, Michel and Ioannis Zervos founded “Kara Deniz”, the first Lebanese maritime agency located at the gate of Beirut’s port.

Having learned the insights of the naval industry while serving in the Hellenic royal navy that was dispatched to the Levant area during World War II, the brothers ventured in their new journey, backed with their knowledge of several languages and their established strong ties with Greeks and Turks. Back then, Kara Deniz activities consisted of providing services and agency support to all vessels berthing at Beirut’s port. 

Adding to its growing portfolio of shipping activities, Kara Deniz becomes the representative of the Hellenic Registry of shipping in Beirut and gets the approval from the Lebanese authorities to certify the vessels hosting the Lebanese flag.

Furthermore, Kara Deniz was appointed the sole exclusive agent for the UNRWA to assist vessels carrying U.N. relief aids to Palestinian refugees.

The son of the founder Michel Zervos, George, creates Zervos Shipping Agency, which he transforms into a global maritime and trade company. Relocating its activities to Beirut’s suburbs, Zervos Shipping Agency expands its activities to include dry cargo chartering, S&P of vessels, hull and machinery insurance and commodities trade.

Following multiple acquisitions in its sector, the rapidly successful company restructures its portfolio under a mother company, MMC Group Holding S.A.L. located  in Greece and Lebanon. Organized as a global network of companies, maneuvering in the trade and seafaring industries, MMC manages the group's services and operations, strengthened by years of experience. 

The holding comprises nowadays over 17 entities, mainly dealing in ship building, ship's major conversions, crewing, classification, flagging, insurance, sale and purchase of vessels, port, shipyard, airports construction and operation, as well as infrastructure expansion projects and commodities trade.

With the decision of the Ministry of Transportation of the republic of Togo to re-structure and expand its national ship registry, the “International Registrations Bureau” or IRB was founded as Togo’s exclusive maritime administration for the registering of vessels, with two main offices in Greece and Lebanon. IRB Lebanon being part of the MMC Group Holding.

Established in Beirut, Lebanon with a sister company located in Greece, MAC or “Maritime Activities Consultants” provides quick and efficient flagging and crew endorsements services under several well renowned flags such as Belize, Panama & St. Vincent. As complementary services to the above, MAC establishes offshore companies under several commercial registers mainly, Honduras and the Marshall Islands.

INSB-LEBANON became the regional office of the reputable Greek ship classification society INSB Class for the MENA region. Its main operations are to conduct safety surveys for ships classification and issue statutory and management systems certifications to vessels operating in the Lebanese and middle eastern markets. INSB-MEA has branches and representatives in Dubai, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Romania, South Korea, Ivory Coast and Cyprus.

Launched in Beirut as a human resources management service provider, O&M L.L.C main objective is to provide to other companies HR services and management. 

Accredited by ESYD, SAAS and UKAS to issue ISO and other European certificates,  EUROCERT Lebanon - representative of EUROCERT Greece - conducts audits, examination, calibration, certification, inspection and verification services to manufacturers and private companies. Working with auditors of multiple nationalities, EUROCERT Lebanon has the technical competence and impartiality to check the conformity of products and services with the relevant international or local standards and regulations in the food and agriculture, retail, production of goods, waste management, transportation and mining sectors among others.

With offices in Beirut and Greece, GMZ is a ship management company that offers custom-made services in the chartering, consulting, S&P of vessels. It has a vast network of associated surveyors and auditors, capable of assisting owners with all their needs in any port worldwide, in a timely and efficient manner.

GB International – Lebanon is the operating entity of the “International Ships Registry of Guinea-Bissau”.  A Lebanese private corporation, GBI is the official delegate of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau to manage, operate and register all vessels engaged in international trade and sailing with Guinea-Bissau flag.

Based in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, AMGK for Maritime Services is a maritime company that is specialized in the repairing, maintenance, S&P, classification and conversion of all type of vessels, cargo and leisure.
