The Paris 2024 Summer Olympic games are officially starting: “A time for sharing and coming together”

July 26 2024

After a long journey that began at the birthplace of the Olympic games in Olympia, Greece, travelling through several French cities, the Olympic flame - a symbol of light, hope, peace and unity will be officially announcing the beginning of the 33rd Olympiad of the modern era, the Paris 2024 summer Olympics that will be held from July 26 till August 11.

206 participating countries with a total of 10500 athletes will compete in 45 different sports disciplines and 329 competitions that include archery, artistic swimming, football, judo, swimming, wrestling and many more. Let us on this occasion note that four new disciplines were included for the first time in the Olympic games citing: Surfing, climbing, skateboarding and breakdancing. 110 heads of state will be meeting in Paris for the occasion, while 100 Greek athletes will compete in this legendary sporting moment with the basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo and the race walker Antigoni Drisbioti being the flag bearers of the Greek delegation.

And after a century since the last Olympic games opening ceremony was held in Paris in the stadium Yves-du-Manoir, the City of Lights will witness an unprecedented concept in the Olympics history. Moving the ceremony out of a stadium while aiming to present the games to as many people as possible, la “Grande Seine” will in fact host the opening celebration.

A four-hour feast during which the quays will become the free spectators’ stands for 222000 viewers, witnessing along its 6 kilometers channels the parade of the 85 delegations’ boats and a live show that will have the Eiffel Tower as a background.

Highlighting French and Parisian heritage, 3000 artists (including 400 dancers) will perform 12 live open-air artistic shows while Celine Dion, Aya Nakamura and Gojira, the first heavy metal band to ever perform at the Olympics have all been confirmed as music performers during the opening ceremony. As for the official soundtrack of the Paris 2024 summer games “Hello World”, sang by the Grammy Awards winning singer-songwriter Gwen Stefani and the eight-time Grammy Award winning producer singer songwriter Anderson.Paak, it was specifically created to celebrate the magic that happens when the world comes together.

And to make the Paris 2024 Olympics games even more legendary, the 13,000-seat arena on the Trocadero site, baptized the “Champions Park”, will be the symbol of what Paris 2024 wants these Games to be: A time for sharing and coming together.

Between July 29 and August 10, fans and supporters from all over the world will have the chance to meet the recently medaled athletes and celebrate free of charge with the champions during live shows and fascinating choreographic universes.

Good Games and May the Best One Win!
